On March 30, 2025, the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology welcomed Dr. Olena Bobrova, Senior Researcher of the Plant Physiology and Cryobiology Group, Department of Plant Genetics and Breeding at the Czech Agrifood Research Center (CARC), for an official visit.
The purpose of the visit was to establish a scientific collaboration between CARC and the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology in the areas of cryobiology, cryobanking, and plant biotechnology. The partnership will focus on the conservation of plant genetic resources through safe long-term storage in cryobanks, in vitro propagation using bioreactor systems, as well as knowledge exchange and the preparation of joint grant proposals.
During her visit, Dr. Bobrova was introduced to the department’s scientific directions and research facilities. Professor Volodymyr Lushchak and Dr. Viktor Husak showcased the department’s laboratories and equipment used in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, and biotechnology.
The Czech Agrifood Research Center (CARC) is one of Europe’s leading institutions specializing in agricultural and environmental research. The Plant Physiology and Cryobiology Group is renowned for its involvement in international research projects, educational programs, and innovative technologies such as infrared imaging, water state analysis, and bioreactor systems for efficient plant propagation.
The future collaboration between CARC and the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology marks a promising step toward the development of advanced research in plant biotechnology and the integration of Ukrainian science into the European research space.
