Researchers of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology participated in the XX International Conference “Chargaff Readings”

Employees of the department Dmytro Gospodaryov, 1st year postgraduate student Andriy Shturmak and 3rd year postgraduate student Vladyslav Berezovskyi presented the results of their researches at the XX International Scientific Conference “Chargaff Readings”, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the founding of Chernivtsi National University and the 120th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous Austrian biochemist Erwin Chargaff.

The conference was held on October 27-30 in the city of Chernivtsi in the central building of the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, as well as at the Department of Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Biology, Chemistry and Bioresources.

Participants of this year’s conference were researchers from Chernivtsi, Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Kherson, Uzhhorod, Ternopil, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv. Among the foreign speakers were Thomas Schmülling (Germany), Ivan Šalamon (Slovakia), Aleš Kovařyk (Czech Republic), Robert Gasterok (Poland), Lucian Gorgan (Romania) and Sònia Garcia (Spain).

Vladyslav Berezovskyi presented the results of a large-scale study on the change in the shape and size of fruit fly organs with age. Dmytro Gospodaryov spoke about the effect of a high-fat diet with fructose and alpha-ketoglutarate on the regulation of energy metabolism in the liver and brain of mice.
