Scientists of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Maria Bayliak, Viktor Husak and Dmytro Gospodaryov took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Actual problems of modern biology, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine”

The head of the Department, Professor Maria Bayliak and Associate Professors Viktor Husak and Dmytro Gospodaryov presented the results of the Department’s scientific work at the online session of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Actual Problems of modern biology, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Petro Lahodyuk.

The conference was held on October 3-4 in Lviv at the Institute of Animal Biology of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. The conference presented researches in the fields of microbiology and biotechnology, animal breeding, selection and genetics, including bioinformatics, animal physiology and biochemistry. Some studies were devoted to animal ecology, peculiarities of animal nutrition and feeding, veterinary medicine, etc.

Maria Bayliak presented results of the study devoted to the metabolic effects of margarine and intermittent fasting on young mice. Specifically, emphasis was made on the influence of gender on the peculiarities of the murine metabolism. Viktor Husak spoke about the effects of the fungicide “Topaz” on the antioxidant system of silver crucian carp. Dmytro Gospodaryov drew parallels in the effects of ferulic acid on the expression of autophagy markers in phylogenetically distant organisms – the fruit fly and mice.
