During two months 4th-year student Natalia Nechytailo was carring on the traineeship at the International Institute of Molecular Mechanisms and Machines (IMoL), Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw, Poland). Traineeship was performed as part of grant program EMBO Solidarity with Ukraine.
Natalia shared her expressions:
“I worked in the Laboratory of Metabolic Quality Control under supervising of Dr. Karolina Szczepanowska. This laboratory investigates mitochondrial OXPHOS mechanisms, signal systems related to them and diseases (cancer and aging) which are driven from mitochondrial protein turnover mistakes. During work I was studying CLpP protease and its substrates using SDS-PAGE and Western Blot. In addition, I was maintaining MEFs cell lines which were used for this investigation. Beside cell samples, measurements were also taken on mitochondrial lysates from certain organs. I took part in journal clubs at the Institution where we were discussing articles from vary biological spheres. Taking together mitoproteomics is very interesting topic of investigations that could become important tool for treatment not only mitochondrial diseases but also many types of cancer and aging.”
We are glad to hear about Natalia’s achievements and wish her further success!
