Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed in our laboratory for the first time

Today, for the first time in our laboratory, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed. The technique was tested on mutant lines of fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. The whole procedure was conducted under the guidance of Associate Professor Dmytro Gospodaryov. Maria Lylyk, a senior technician, assisted in the isolation of DNA from flies. Students Oleh Demyanchuk and Vitaliy Balatskyi helped in preparion of reagents for PCR, conducted DNA electrophoresis and detected RCR samples.
