Congratulations to Professor Volodymyr Lushchak and Maria Bayliak, as well as Associate Professor Dmytro Gospodaryov on their first publication in 2023! The article “Homeostasis of carbohydrates and reactive oxygen species is critically changed in the brain of middle-aged mice: molecular mechanisms and functional reasons” https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2667160323000066

The manuscript has been accepted for publication in a special issue of the recently created journal Biochimica et Biophysica Acta Advances of the Elsevier publishing house – “Highlights in Ukrainian Molecular Biosciences”. The article states that with age, the formation of adenosine triphosphoric acid (ATP), the main energy source, was decreased in nerve cells, while the recovery of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphoric acid (NADP), a compound required for maintaining the antioxidant potential of cells and the synthesis of nucleic acids, was increased.
