Professor Volodymyr Lushchak took part Present at Copytree Action Conference in Latvia

Professor Volodymyr Lushchak participated in the Copytree Action Conference (grant CopyTree COST Action CA21157) as a representative from Ukraine. This prestigious event brings together experts from various fields to discuss the latest advancements in plant science and biotechnology. The conference was held from April 22nd to 26th, 2024, at the Bulduri Technical School in Jurmala, Latvia. That was a platform for groundbreaking discussions and presentations. Prof. Lushchak presented a poster about the research of the Ukrainian team Ok.V. Pasat, V.V. Husak, A. M. Pitukh, V. I. Lushchak titled “Effects of Copper and Silver Ions on Growth and Biochemical Characteristics of Paulownia Plantlets at Hydroponic Cultivation.” This presentation was focused on the potential of Paulownia trees in phytoremediation, particularly in regions affected by copper and chromium contamination. The research provided valuable insights into the biochemical and growth responses of Paulownia to copper and silver ions, which may provide strategies for optimizing its effectiveness in remediating of polluted soils. In the oral presentation authored by V. V. Husak, O. A. Bulii, Y. O. Vakiv, V. I. Lushchak and titled “Enhancement of Medicinal Bioactive Compounds of Gynura procumbens by Silver Nitrate and Phytohormones: Perspective in Phytotherapy for Diabetes and Cancer”, effects of naphthalene acetic acid on the levels of flavonoid and polyphenolic compounds were presented. That research offers promising insights into the cultivation and enhancement of G. procumbens as a potent medicinal resource, highlighting its role in the future of phytotherapy for chronic diseases.

Conference Details: The Copytree Action Conference is an annual event that showcases the work of five working groups, each focusing on different aspects of plant science and biotechnology. The event features keynote speakers, presentations selected from abstracts, poster sessions, a social dinner, and a management committee meeting. Additionally, there was a two-day post-conference tour for networking opportunities.
