Scientists of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Professor Volodymyr Lushchak and leading specialist Victoriia Hurza, took part in the 48th FEBS Congress “Mining biochemistry for human health and well-being”

The event took place over 5 days (29.06.2024 – 03.07.2024) in Milan. The Congress focused on human health and well-being, which can be achieved and improved through molecular and cellular biology. In addition to important research topics related to the latest developments in the biochemical field, the Congress activities included special educational sessions, symposia, and economic discussions related to biochemistry. In general, the congresses organized by the FEBS Society aim to provide an exchange of ideas and communication between scientists at different levels. FEBS also has a scholarship scheme to support young scientists who are just starting their careers.

As part of this event, our colleagues listened to a number of interesting lectures, gained new experience, and shared the results of their own research with scientists from around the world. In particular, Victoriia Hurza presented a poster entitled “Influence of margarine diet alone and in combination with every other day feeding on the antioxidant system of mouse liver and heart”, which highlighted the effect of margarine and periodic fasting on the antioxidant defense system of the liver and heart of mice. In addition, the 48th FEBS Congress allowed the scientists of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology to make new acquaintances with their colleagues from other universities around the world, which may be the first step for future cooperation.
