On March 24, 2023, four students of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology participated at the 92nd Scientific and Practical Conference of Students and Young Scientists with International Participation “Innovations in Medicine and Pharmacy” that was organized by Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University and was held online. This year’s event brought together about 400 participants from different universities and regions of Ukraine. The Conference featured 185 reports in 26 sections in 36 disciplines, including 31 posters. Representatives from our department participates in the section “Biological and Medical Chemistry”.
The 3rd year students Mariia Rak and Alina Tutka (supervisor – Prof. Maria Bayliak) made oral reports and presented works on the effect of nutritional conditions on biochemical and physiological parameters of blood in mice. Mariia studied the effect of fructose-arginine mixture on the biochemical parameters of mice blood, and Alina studied the effect of periodic fasting on body weight and blood parameters against the background of a cafeteria diet. These studies are very relevant in the context of the problem of obesity and unhealthy eating.
The 4th year students Svyatoslav Haruk and Andrii Shturmak (supervisor – Assoc. Prof. Volodymyr Shvadchak) presented posters and also presented the results of interesting research. Andrii presented a fluorescent approach to determine the concentration of peptides during intranasal delivery and Svyatoslav showed results of his studies of the intranasal delivery of peptides to the mice brain of mice using this method. The work may be important for the development of new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases and other pathological conditions of the central nervous system.
The conference participants had the opportunity to learn about other research in the field of medical biology, discuss common issues and share their knowledge and experience in this field.
We are pleased to mention that all four students received awards in their section. Congratulations to the students on their worthy performance!
