The Department’s researchers, Professor Maria Bayliak and Senior Researcher Olha Strilbytska, together with colleagues from the Precarpathian University, took part in the STEM Festival “Women in STEM: From Dream to Action”. The event was organized and held at Kolomyia Lyceum No. 9. The aim of the event was to motivate and increase girls’ interest in scientific activities in various STEM fields.
The speakers from our University shared their own stories and achievements, confirming the thesis that Precarpathian University is a university of opportunities and dream fulfilment. Maria Bayliak shared how she became a biochemist and the areas of research at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology. Our young scientist Olha Strilbytska tried to dispel the myths about whether women can be successful in science. The event impressed with the number of female students present at the event and the reports of the girls who presented their research papers. It is also worth noting the high level of material and technical natural science facilities at the lyceum, where students have to develop practical skills and take their first steps as real researchers.
