Ihor Yurkevych, Research Fellow at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, took part in the Galaxy User Conference, which was held in Freiburg, Germany, on March 15-16, 2018. According to Ihor Yurkevych, the goal of the event was to gather bioinformatics researchers using the Galaxy online platform for biomedical data analysis (DNA, RNA transcripts, proteins, etc.), as well as for presenting research results and discussing their analysis. Participants of the conference were from Europe, North America and Australia. Ihor Yurkevych presented results on the topic “Late reproduction in Drosophila”, which are related to the study of single-nucleotide polymorphisms in the genome, RNA transcripts, the content of proteins and metabolites at reproduction in a later age. Such studies allow to discover genes and proteins involved in life span regulation, development and metabolism, as well as to predict the effects of late reproduction on life expectancy and health status of the offspring.
