Online courses for students of biological disciplines supported by DAAD

We are pleased to announce that the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has awarded our team a grant to organize online courses for Ukrainian students of biological specialties for the third time. The project will be implemented under the leadership of Prof. Olga Garaschuk, Director of the Institute of Physiology at the University of Tübingen (Germany) and the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at PNU.

In 2024, we will organize 6 free interactive online courses for students of biology and related specialties, which will be taught by leading experts from Ukrainian universities.

Integrated course “Life Sciences” (150 hours, starting March 4, 2024) will combine physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biophysics, and bioenergetics. It is aimed mainly at bachelors. The subjects will be taught from scratch by a team of lecturers from different universities, the key ones being our department’s faculty.

More details can be found on the course page on the project website

Registration form (open until February 25, 2024)

The course will be taught by experts from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and the Ukrainian company Explogen LLC (Lviv). This subject is not taught in all Ukrainian universities, but it is one of the most promising areas for young biologists in Europe. The expected audience of the course is master and postgraduate students.
Registration form (open until March 2, 2024)

Molecular and Cellular Neurophysiology (30 hours, starting March 20, 2024). Specialized course designed master students and advanced bachelor students based on the course given at the Kyiv Academic University by Oleksiy Boldyrev (KAU / Bogomolets Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine)
Registration form (open until March 14, 2024):

Microscopy and Instrumental Methods in Biology (60 hours, July-August 2024). The course aims to provide students with the knowledge necessary to work with modern equipment in research laboratories. It is designed for students over the 3rd year and graduate students and will be taught by a team of biophysicists and microscopists from Ukraine, Germany and the Czech Republic.

Integrated course “Microbes, Viruses and Infections” (90 hours, September-November 2024) is aimed mainly at bachelors who want to work at the intersection of biology and laboratory diagnostics. It will be taught by a team of lecturers from different universities, the key ones being Maria Bayliak, Maryna Skok (Institute of Biochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences), Oleksandra Abrat and Denis Kolybo (Institute of Biochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences), and Dmytro Gospodaryov.

Medical Genetics (30 hours, September-October 2024) designed for students of biological and medical specialties.
Lecturer: Nataliya Matiytsiv (Ivan Franko National University of Lviv). This course is a development of a group of lectures that were given in 2023 as part of the course “Bioinformatics”
